Wilderness, food, adventure, comfort: the Bruny experience
Join Tim Cope and Toby Story for an exclusive sea kayaking, lodge based experience of Tasmania’s Bruny Island – a place fast becoming equally renowned for its dramatic, remote coastline, as it is for it quality food produce. This trip suits anyone with a sense of adventure, but for those also seeking the comforts of a lodge and gourmet catered meals.
During the four days of exploring by sea kayak, and at times on foot you will be rewarded with secluded coves, sea caves, lagoons, sea kelp forests and if lucky, encounters with fur seals, fairy penguins and soaring albatross. At night you will enjoy retreating to our base for the trip: Bruny Island lodge. This is a private wilderness lodge on 860 acres on prime coastal bushland. During dinners here you will be sampling Bruny Island delicacies including fresh oysters, handmade cheeses, local honey and chocolate.
Acknowledging Country
Our journey will include a special welcome to country ceremony, in which we will be given an introduction to the history and culture of Tasmania’s first peoples.
Giving Back
$50 of your trip payment will be donated to the Bob Brown foundation to support a campaign to protect the cultural and natural values of the Takayana (Tarkine) region.
Experience required
Previous kayaking experience is not necessary, but it is important to have a sound level of fitness and, most of all, a sense of adventure. The degree of difficulty of the trip will depend on the weather we encounter. We ask that all participants feel confident in swimming.
