Remote Desert Immersion

Join Andrew Harper and Tim Cope for a remote, 9 day experience in the Western Simpson Desert. Travelling on foot with a caravan of camels, we will be traveling cross-country, far from roads with the aim of exploring and immersing ourselves in a part of Australia of immense cultural and natural value. You will only need to carry a daypack with you as you walk.

This journey is not about a day to day itinerary, but about being in this extraordinary and ancient place that transcends our modern world.

By day you will be falling into the rhythm of the camels and the rise and fall of the Simpson’s iconic red-crimson dunes. By night, enjoy campfires, and the stars from your swag.

In Andrew Harper you will have arguably Australia’s most experienced desert cameleer with a deep respect for indigenous heritage, and a wealth of knowledge to be able to interpret the land.

Tim Cope has travelled extensively in the steppe and deserts of Central Asia by horse and with camels and has a deep passion for remote places and ancient cultures.

This journey is timed for mid winter which is the ideal season for travel in Central Australia – think crisp, clear nights and sometimes even frosty mornings, but warm sunny days.

Anyone who is capable of walking 4-6 hours a day with a daypack and willing to participate in some of the camel and camp routines is welcome to join. All food and camping equipment is provided.
